Austin from Dallas.

I am a real estate broker/investor and I am on a journey to acquire 200 units in 2 years.

A little background. I grew up 45 minutes north of Dallas in a very suburban household. I went to the University of Mississippi. After wrestling with the idea of investment banking I decided that real estate was a better fit for me.

Fast forward to today and I have been working in the industry for 3+ years. The past 3 years I have been doing tenant-rep work for national retail clients. I now lead a multifamily investment sales team, focused on buyers in DFW.

I have a genuine love-affair with starting my own ventures and doing things the way I see. What I see is pretty simple. To be wealthy (not rich) you have to own things. I did a ton of self reflecting when I decided to take this new path. As a result, I decided to write down a few reasons why real estate was the best path towards ownership for me.

  1. I’m a fresh starter. I like to start new things, get said thing to a place I like, and then move on to the next new thing. (I.e. if I were tech savvy (web developer type) I would 100% be a VC and/or start-up guy.)
  2. Long-term horizon thinker & investor. I mentally break life into 10 year windows. I invest in large dividend stocks. A boring investor.
  3. Structured creativity. I enjoy that each property & market has unique characteristics and needs. A structured system that must be manipulated on a deal-by-deal basis.
  4. Jack of all trades, master of none. Apartment investing is a "director’s” business that includes teams and varying skills. (i.e. marketing, sales, financing)
  5. Can sell my ideas. I'm not the best salesman. At the end of the day when you are raising and disposing of capital you are selling an idea. To be good at selling you have to believe in what you're selling. Personally, the only thing I can truly sell are my ideas.

Now that you know me and my motives I can start to unravel my journey from 0  to 200 units. My goal is to document my learning's to help both myself and anyone that may be reading.

In this blog you will find things such as;

  •  real deal breakdowns
  •  processes for deal flow, market analysis, etc.
  •  thoughts on macro & micro real estate catalysts
  •  random ideas
  •  bold predictions
  •  and tons of other stuff.

I look forward to connecting with apartment owners, brokers, and any other like-minded real estate folks. I love talking real estate so don't hesitate to reach out.

Cheers!
